Guitar Tuning 101

Like many people I have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I purchased my red beauty about 10 years ago and finally, just a few weeks ago, learned how to play my first tune. Unfortunately I have no ear for music, and tuning my guitar has posed to be a problem. However there are many ways to get help tuning your guitar. Here are a few options to choose from.

1. Have someone else do it for you.

2. Online Guitar Tuners. Such as…

3. Telephone Apps. Such as…

Guitar Tool Kit- Which has a chromatic tuner with over 40 built-in tunings. A chord dictionary with 260 chord maps and audible tones so you can tune by ear.

Tyro Tuner- This app will use your iPhone microphone to allow you to play a note and then let you know whether you need to tune the string up or down.

Or if you have an iPhone you can open up ModGuitars.com tuner, click on the string you are trying to tune and hear it in the perfect pitch for your guitar.

These are all great options when tuning your guitar, whether you are at home or on the go.  And these devices can also help train your ear to what the proper sound for each string is.
